Executive function blitz!
Grade 6th-8th | $165

In our 2-day Executive Function Blitz, students will get a crash course in the skills they will need to be successful in school.

When students don’t have strong executive skills, they struggle to get things done in school and in life. Neuroscience tells us that our frontal lobes aren’t fully developed until our mid-twenties; so, it’s completely normal and appropriate that children and adolescents have executive function deficits. The good news is executive skills can be taught and, with practice, students can train their brains and improve their executive skills!

From organization and planning to prioritization and time management, this workshop is designed to introduce online and paper tools and resources to help your student find the right strategies and systems of organization for their learning preferences.

Topics include:

  • Learning preferences

  • Organization

  • Time management

  • Homework management

  • Going beyond homework

  • Test preparation and test anxiety

HSPT Prep
Grade: 8th | $180

This 2-day workshop will help students gain familiarity with the High School Placement Test, introduce them to test-taking strategies, and review practice problems with answer explanations.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • A comprehensive, student-friendly HSPT manual

  • Experienced teacher who know how to work with different types of learners

  • Exposure to the test format and scoring procedures

  • Practice with the five sections: Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Mathematics, and Language Arts

  • Effective test-taking strategies

PRACTICE EXAMS (OPTIONAL):
Classroom Matters has a partnership with Test Innovators to offer HSPT online practice exams. These are available as add-ons to the workshop.

  • 2 full tests + 700 practice exercises - $175

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you must cancel your registration, a refund (minus processing fees) will be provided if cancellation is made at least 4 weeks before the start of the class. Cancellation inside 4 weeks will be applied as a credit towards other Classroom Matters services. If the credits are applied to another workshop, a $10 change fee will apply. For all late registrations (after it has closed), a $20 fee will apply. Any cancellations that are within 4 days (96 hours) of the start of the workshop will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
