30-minute Essay

Students applying to independent high schools are required to submit a writing sample. This live-proctored test will be 30-minutes long.

This workshop will help students practice and be better prepared. The instructor will go over the structure of an essay, writing fundamentals, and how to write under timed pressure.


How to Nail the 30-minute High School Writing Sample

Calling all 8th grade students applying to independent high schools! This workshop is designed for you!

Learn how to write a good essay in just 30 minutes. We'll cover the fundamentals from drafting to writing, as well as how to proofread to eliminate mistakes. The instructor will guide you through the steps of a cohesive essay and give you feedback. You'll get the opportunity to do timed practice in session, work on time management and test-taking strategies.

(Minimum enrollment of 5; maximum enrollment of 15)

CANCELLATION POLICY + FEES

If you must cancel your registration, a refund (minus processing fees) will be provided if cancellation is made at least 4 weeks before the start of the class. Cancellation inside 4 weeks will be applied as a credit towards other Classroom Matters services. If the credits are applied to another workshop, a $10 change fee will apply. For all late registrations (after it has closed), a $20 fee will apply. Any cancellations that are within 4 days (96 hours) of the start of the workshop will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
