In this comprehensive workshop, students can expect to take one essay (e.g., the Common App or one of the UC Personal Insight Questions) through all the stages of writing — from brainstorming to final revisions, and make a personalized plan for completing remaining essays.

Each session, students will have short writing exercises, group discussions, and writing instructions. Topics will cover:

  • Intro to Writing

  • From Brainstorming to Drafting

  • Asking For and Using Feedback

  • How to Revise

  • Checklist/Rewrites

Total instruction time is 15 hours. Classes in Session A will include a 30-minute meal break so please have your student pack a lunch. Session B does not include a meal break.

(Minimum enrollment of 5; maximum enrollment of 12)
