For over a decade, Classroom Matters has offered the Bay Area’s premier essay writing workshop. Our program aims to prepare students to write better, more cohesive essays in an intensive, week-long workshop.
In our Summer Writing Program, we focus on a variety of components essential to expository essay writing. From literary analysis to shaping and supporting a strong thesis, small classes meet daily to explore the writing process in a fun and engaging environment. Through mini-lessons and guided practice, students will strengthen their aptitude for writing clear and convincing essays and develop a keen understanding of what makes good writing. Experienced teachers will assess each student’s level of ability; students will receive our trademark manuals as well as other valuable handouts to use throughout the school year.
Our middle school class content differs from that of our high school class. Middle-schoolers read and work from a different set of short stories and instruction assumes students have a more basic understanding of essay writing and the skills required.
In order to assess writing ability, students will be given a prompt and time to write on the first day.
(Minimum enrollment is 5 students, maximum is 12 students)
